I am passionate about learning and yet, I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference. Our time is so precious, but the celebrated path in higher education from undergraduate to professor was not the trail I desired. I let my imagination paint the scene for my road less traveled instead of the oft times chiaroscuro of traditional scholarship, light and dark imposed upon the scene, and yet, only an illusion of three dimensional life.
I have been a secondary science educator for over thirty years and hold a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. A substantial portion of my scholarship centers around the use of Web 2.0 to facilitate learning at all levels. My current research interests include: teacher professional development using webinars and other Web 2.0 tools, preparing and field testing instructional units and books using emerging technology tools for instruction and the use of ubiquitous tools like cell phones in science instruction as data collection/analysis tools. Currently part of my research involves the support of traditional text with inquiry-based support through interactive media.
