My research interests revolve around thematic areas of cardiac and vascular remodeling, cardiovascular risk prediction, novel biomarkers, health disparities, and metabolomics using large population-based studies. My goal has been to better understand the life course of cardiovascular disease in the context of traditional and non-traditional risk factors by identifying underlining pathophysiological mechanisms and effect modifiers of cardiovascular diseases across the human lifespan. The ultimate aim was to improve disease surveillance for individuals with disease as well as in the asymptomatic general population and the possible amelioration of risk through timely and cost-effective interventions.
I am also interested in expanding my interest to other future related areas as modern epidemiology evolves i.e. big data, machine learning, or precision medicine and to receive independent funding to answer other important present or future scientific questions.
