Currently, I primarily work as a science communicator, writing for outlets such as Live Science, Mental Floss, Interesting Facts, Forbes, and Smithsonian Magazine. As an anthropologist, I am wrapping up a research program in Roman bioarchaeology by writing manuscripts on aDNA analysis at the sites of Gabii and Oplontis.

My educational background includes a PhD in anthropology (UNC Chapel Hill), MA degrees in anthropology (ECU) and classical archaeology (UNC Chapel Hill), and BA degrees in classical archaeology and Latin (UVa). I’ve taught at UNC Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt University, SUNY Cortland, Durham Technical Community College, and the University of West Florida.
