Sakib Imtiaz is a researcher and consultant working in the areas of disaster risk management and climate change with skills in program development, policy analysis, proposal writing, and project management. He studies the complex relationship between life and nature with a focus on understanding social-ecological systems.
His works address local level to global issues through social and environmental research. He uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing techniques to detect environmental change.
Sakib worked with national and international organizations, including the United Nations. He has extensive experience working on disaster risk reduction in humanitarian settings, such as the Rohingya refugee crisis.
In addition to research, Sakib focuses on advocacy and science communication. He regularly presents his work at conferences at home and abroad and publishes articles in scientific journals and other media, including The Daily Star, The Diplomat, Financial Express, PreventionWeb, and ReliefWeb.
Sakib holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Disaster Management from the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Dhaka.
