Todd A. Hanson is an archaeologist specializing in the study of landscapes, principally the built landscapes of science and technology dating from the Gilded Age through the Nuclear Age.
Dr. Hanson received his PhD in American Studies from the University of New Mexico for research expertise in ethnography and archaeology and a dissertation presented as an ethnographic study of quantum information physics work. His ethnographic and archaeological studies of former nuclear weapons development and testing sites in the United States and the Republic of the Marshall Islands have lead to numerous peer-reviewed papers, reports, book chapters, and the book, The Archaeology of the Cold War (University Press of Florida, 2016).
He is a member of the Society for Historical Archaeology and the American Folklore Society and serves as a peer reviewer for the University Press of Florida, the Journal of Contemporary Archaeology, and Journal of Maritime Archaeology.
Prior to joining the Ronin Institute, Dr. Hanson was a staff member at Los Alamos National Laboratory for twenty-four years.
