I am retired on health grounds, use a wheelchair, and am predominantly housebound. However, I have a passion for carrying out pragmatic research (when I am physically able to) that contributes to both the academic community and wider stakeholders.
I completed my PhD (Management, 2014-2017) at Southampton Business School, the University of Southampton, in the UK under the supervision of Professor Yehuda Baruch and Associate Professor Melanie Ashleigh. Part of my PhD findings offered a new model of graduate employability drawing on human capital, career advice, and protean career orientation. My research sits in the field of Sustainable Careers and Human Resource Management, with a specific focus on university students and recent graduates.
I am currently a Visiting Research Fellow at Southampton Business School as a guest of Professor Yehuda Baruch.
As of November 2022, I have published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles with co-authors from America, Australia, Canada, Dubai, England, and India.
My work has been cited 416 times (h-index 6, i10-index 5) and read by 20,634 people across 112 countries and 6 continents (according to Google Scholar and ResearchGate, November 2022).
My research awards include being an Oustanding Reviewer for Management Research Review (2022), a Doctoral College School Runner Up for Southampton Business School (2019), a Doctoral College School Highly Commended Faculty Nominee for the Faculty of Business & Law (2018), a Southampton Business School Postgraduate Publication Award (2017), and a Best Paper in Relational Leadership and Change Track at Southampton Business School Conference (2016).
I am the Managing Editor of the GiLE Journal of Skills Development and sit on the Editorial Boards for Career Matters and the Journal of Management & Organization. I am a Retired Fellow of the Learning and Performance Institute, an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Non-Practising Member of the National Council of Psychotherapists, a Retired Member of the Career Development Institute, a Member of the Graduate Recruiter Network, a Lifetime Retired Affiliate of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, a Retired Member of the Philosophy and Theory of Higher Education Society, an Honorary Member of the Institute of Student Employers, and a Lifetime Member of the British Computer Society. I am also a qualified Life Coach.
I previously worked at a Graduate Recruiter in London, UK for an Investment Bank. I have also given guest lectures on graduate employability at universities around the UK.
